Assistant Professor at Department of History of Diplomacy (Faculty of Political Science and International Studies, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń). PhD in political science, major in international relations (Doctoral thesis: A concept of the strategic partnership in the contemporary International Relationships and inter-EU strategic partners of Poland), Master’s degree in international relations, major in Eastern Studies (Master’s thesis: The place of Ukraine in the Polish Eastern Policy after May 1, 2004), both obtained from the Nicolaus Copernicus University. Prior to establishing the Strategic Partnerships Group PhD Lucyna Czechowska participated in several research projects, including international ones (e.g. Copernicus Graduate School).
PhD Lucyna Czechowska is an expert of Casmir Pulaski Foundation, Member of the Polish Political Science Association and was an intern at the Eastern Policy Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of the republic of Poland in Washington.
Main research interests:
- Polish foreign policy in the twentieth and twenty-first century (with particular emphasis on the period of the Third Republic of Poland and eastern policy)
- European Union external policy (including relations with its strategic partners and within the mechanisms of the European Neighbourhood Policy)
- European integration theory and alliances theory (with particular emphasis on strategic partnerships).

Lecturer at the Department of Political and Strategic Studies, Baltic Defence College in Tartu (Estonia). Prior to joining the Strategic Partnerships Group at the Nicolaus Copernicus University of Toruń, he held research positions in Spain (University of Deusto), Germany (German-French Institute in Ludwigsburg) and Poland (College of Europe, Natolin campus). He also was a research fellow in the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, where he received his MA and PhD (CSc) in International Relations and World Politics. Dr. Tyushka’s PhD thesis examined the Franco-German security and defence cooperation regime within the European Security and Defence Policy.
He also holds advanced postgraduate degrees in Constitutional Law (University of Lviv), and International Relations and European Integration (Estonian School of Diplomacy).
Dr. Tyushka’s research focuses primarily on European security, including security and defence policies of the European Union, and Franco-German politics in Europe. Further domains of research interests include European Union’s external relations law and politics, European Neighbourhood Policy, Eastern Partnership.
He published internationally on international relations, security studies and foreign policy, among others with European View, Baltic Journal of European Studies, Romanian Journal of European Affairs, Modern Ukrainian Politics, Political Management, Chorzowskie Studies in Politics, and Law Journal (Kyiv). He also authors Ukrainian translation of the volume ‘Europe from A to Z: A Guide to European Integration’ (edited by W. Weidenfeld and W. Wessels; Nomos Verlag, 2007).
Graduated in Political Science (master’s degree) and Slavic philology (Bachelor) at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun (NCU Toruń). Student at Masaryk University in Brno in the Czech Republic. An excellent PhD in Political Science at NCU Toruń with doctoral thesis „Cooperation of the Visegrad Group in the process of European integration”. Research experience and interests: Theories of Regional Integration, especially European Integration, International Organizations, Interregionalism. Central Europe, Strategic Partnerships. She holds Ph.D. in Political Science from the Nicolaus Copernicus University and two MA degrees: one in Political Science and one in Balkan Philology. During her studies she has received various grants and scholarships: from Kosciuszko Foundation in New York, Polish Ministry of Education, Ministry of Education and Culture in Croatia. She was also a research scholar at the University of Pittsburgh (Center for Russian & East European Studies), South East European University (Faculty of Public Administration and Political Sciences), University of Belgrade (Faculty of Political Sciences). She is a member of the Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies (ASEEES). From 2013 she works as a research fellow at the Casimir Pulaski Foundation. Her research focuses on political situation in the Western Balkans, with particular emphasis on the European integration process in the region, ethnopolitics and theory of ethnic relations. Further domains of research interests include European Union’s external relations, European Neighborhood Policy, evolution of the Euro-Atlantic relations and international security.
Assistant Professor at the Department of the History of International Relations at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń as well as a Research Fellow at Grigol Robakidze University in Tbilisi. Her primary field of research are models and simulations in international relations theory as well as geopolitics in the Caspian Sea Region and the Southern Caucasus Region.
She received Theodor Koerner scholarship as well as a scholarship of the Minister of Science and Higher Education. She also did research internships at Elliot School of International Affairs at George Washington University, at the Institut für Geschichtswissenschaften of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, and at Ilia State University in Tbilisi.
Graduated in Political Science at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń in 2013. His master and doctoral investigation concerned Spanish Civil War and Francoist dictatorship in Spain (PhD thesis: Communist Poland towards Francoist Spain and Spanish democratic transition 1945-1977). He also published a number of translations from Spanish of essays in political philosophy. Currently, apart from contributing to works of the Strategic Partnerships Group, he cooperates with the Institute of Political Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences, where he participates in Polish-French project Punishment, memory and politics: setting accounts with the past since the World War II. His current research focuses on the symbolical aspects of the contemporary politics of memory in comparative perspective. Honored with the award of the Best Historical Debut of the year 2013, granted by the Institute of National Remembrance for his PhD thesis.
PhD student at the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. Masters thesis: Participatory budgeting. Experiences of Toruń. Editorial board member: Societas et Ius (Deputy Editor), The Copernicus Journal of Political Studies (Technical Editor Assistant). His doctoral research focuses on participatory budget particularly in Poland.
Research interests: local self-government, participatory budget, metropolitan areas.
Doctoral student at Department of Political Theory (Faculty of Political Science and International Studies, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, Poland). Master degree in political science (master thesis: Security Paradox in the Works of Michel Foucault) gained at Nicolaus Copernicus University. His scientific interests are: political theory and political philosophy with main focus on biopolitics and bioethics.
During his studies honored by various scholarships including a scholarship from Polish Ministry of Education. In free time he reads classical philosophy, cooks and plays role-playing and strategic computer games.
